Terms of Use

Effective date 29 July 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and PodQ Limited (“PodQ”, “we”, “us”) covering your use of the VAL app and service. By creating a VAL account you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use VAL.

We will update this page and its effective date whenever our practices change materially.

What VAL is, and who may hold an account

VAL is an AI voice companion for children, managed by a parent or legal guardian. The account holder must be an adult, and must be the parent or legal guardian of every child whose profile is on the account. By creating a child profile and granting consent, you confirm that this is the case.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your device and its unlock method away from anyone who should not be using the parent controls.

The free allowance

Every household gets five free conversations. The allowance belongs to the household and it does not reset: not by reinstalling the app, and not by signing up again.

A conversation begins with your child’s first processed turn, and it ends after 15 minutes of inactivity or when the session is ended.

Subscription and billing

Beyond the free allowance, VAL is offered as a single monthly auto-renewing subscription bought through Apple. One subscription covers unlimited conversations for the whole household: every child, on every device.

Billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple through your Apple account. The subscription is managed and cancelled in Apple’s subscription settings, not inside VAL. If you reinstall the app or move to a new phone, use Restore Purchases in the app to bring your subscription across.

Purchases can only be made in the authenticated parent area of the app. They can never be made from the child-facing mode. Current prices are shown in the App Store and may change, so we do not publish them here.

Deleting your account is not cancelling

Deleting your VAL account removes your household’s data from VAL. It does not cancel your Apple subscription. Because Apple handles the billing, you must cancel in your Apple subscription settings as well if you no longer want to be charged. The same point is made in the Privacy Policy.

AI-generated content, and what VAL is not

VAL’s replies, its stories, and its pictures are generated by AI and are safety-filtered for children. AI output can still be imperfect, unexpected, or simply wrong, and no filter catches everything.

VAL is a companion for play and stories. It is not a source of professional advice of any kind (medical, legal, or otherwise), and it is not a substitute for childcare. A parent remains responsible for supervising their child.

Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt to abuse, attack, probe, reverse-engineer, or otherwise misuse the service, and do not try to work around its limits or protections.
  • Do not use a child profile as an adult in order to get around VAL’s safety systems.
  • Do not use VAL for anything unlawful, or to harm anyone.
  • VAL may refuse, redirect, or end an interaction that runs into its safety rules, and we may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms.

Availability

VAL depends on network connectivity and on third-party providers. We aim to keep the service available and working on commercially reasonable terms, but we do not offer an uptime guarantee. Features may change, be added, or be withdrawn.

Your family’s stories, and our service

The stories your child makes with VAL are for your family to enjoy. You may replay and revisit them for as long as you keep them, for your own personal, non-commercial family use. We do not claim your child’s ideas as our own.

The VAL app and service themselves (the software, the VAL character, the branding, and the systems behind them) remain ours. These terms do not give you rights in them beyond using the app as it is intended to be used.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as VAL changes. When we do, we update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how your child’s data is handled, you will also be asked to review and accept the in-app consent disclosure again before your child’s next session. Continuing to use VAL after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using VAL at any time. You can withdraw consent per child, delete a child profile, or delete the whole household account from within the app. Remember to cancel the subscription separately in Apple’s subscription settings if you are subscribed.

We may suspend or end access to VAL if these terms are breached, if an account is being used in a way that puts children at risk, or if we are required to do so by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

Disclaimers and limits on liability

VAL is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we do not give warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will always be accurate or appropriate. Some countries do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, and nothing here removes rights you have that cannot be excluded.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in connection with VAL is limited to the amount you paid for VAL in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), and the ADGM Courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, you may also have the benefit of mandatory rules of the country you live in.
